Hazard Signs
Hazard signs tell you to keep away! Yellow and black means there is a danger. These signs can be found on poles, substations fences, pylons and network pillars or anywhere there is danger!
Examples of hazard signs:
- Danger of Death Keep out - found on sub station fences
- Danger of Death - found on equipment within substations
- Danger of Death - found on poles and pylons
- Caution Dangerous Site - warning sign to Keep Out
- SF6 - found on substation equipment that contains sulphur hexafluoride
- No unauthorised entry

Look out for warning signs. They save lives!
Aim
What your students should be able to do after discussing this fact :
- Identify warning signs especially the 'Danger of Death' sign.
- Know the reasons why warning signs may be used.
- Warn others of the danger of playing where there are warning signs.
Suggested Activities
- Play 'Power Savers' game.
- Get children to spot electrical warning signs over a period of days. Keep a log book.
- Design a warning sign in groups.
- Download a warning sign.
